Summer is a precious Miniature Dachshund topping the scales at around 12 pounds! This sweet girl came to us about a year after sustaining a back injury that wasn’t treated by her previous owners. Thankfully she’s not in any pain and she just loves everyone that she meets!
Summer is around 9 years old, so she has great house manners; she doesn’t chew on anything she isn’t supposed to and she isn’t destructive when left alone. Don’t let her age fool you, she is always up for a walk around the neighborhood or to patrol the back yard. One of her favorite past times is rolling in the grass and sun bathing. Summer is your typical Dachshund in many ways, she absolutely loves her people and becomes very attached to them quickly, she also loves to burrow under blankets or in snuggle sacks. Going on car rides also brings her lots of joy, but most of all, she is the happiest when she gets to sit in your lap and get loved on.
Her previous back injury has caused her a slight wobble when she walks or runs and she will occasionally fall over if she takes a turn too quickly, but she jumps right back up like nothing happened. She’s also been left slightly incontinent, but if she has routine, her accidents greatly reduce. Summer does well with cats and dogs who respect her space. She isn’t the type of dog who needs to play with others or even wants to play with other dogs, but she is perfectly fine co-existing with them if they give her space. Her foster mom has dogs ranging from 25 pounds to 90 pounds and a cat, all which she ignores now. She’s kennel trained and has begun to love going into it when she wants some quiet time. Summer does well with kids and loves to snuggle up with them. Because of her size and occasional accidents though, we think a home without toddlers is best.
Summer had a dental cleaning on March 22nd, so her teeth will are taken care of, she’s also already spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative.
